November 4, 2009 - The Foundation for the Future (FFF) and Zakoura Foundation of Casablanca launched the "Shams Al Osra (The Sun of the Family)" project, which is an educational program that will be implemented in seven rural and urban areas in Morocco.

This program benefits several regions in Morocco, and is developed to improve the educational level of children of various local groups in the marginalized areas.
“The project is one of the most important projects that (FFF) have contributed to, it believes in its value and impact on the most needy youths as potential good citizens. What fortified the foundation's move to support this project is the importance that it attaches to human political, economical, social and cultural rights” as expressed by Ms. Nabila Hamza, the president of (FFF).

This project will be implemented by establishing schools for non-formal education, for drop outs children from the formal education system; these schools will also provide literacy courses for adults, giving priority to women, and raising awareness gatherings in hygiene and health topics for women. The schools will also offer courses for public school teachers on how to implement out of curriculum activities such as music, theater and painting.

More than 42% of the children over the age of 10, and 60 percent in the rural areas are illiterate; 400 thousand children approximately drop out of schools every year, and only 50 percent of those who enroll in primary education finish their preparatory studies. These figures have contributed to the decline of Morocco's world ranking from 117 in 1990 to 130 in 1995 out of 182 countries, According to development corporation statistics.
